Why are Egyptian Hieroplyphs in the Holy Scripture?

Among the cannon of scripture for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a volume entitled Pearl of Great Price. This volume of scripture contains three Egyptian hieroglyphs. The purpose of this web site is to explore the question: why would God want to include these Egyptian glyphs in scripture. The philosopher, Jaques Derrida, revealed that there is not one objective meaning to any text. Or, in other words, all texts are subject to rereading for new meaning. Anyone who has reread the scriptures has experienced this. In light of that insight, this site will explore some of the possible readings of the facsimiles in the Pearl of Great price. It is not the end of the discussion to explain what the Egyptian who first designed the included glyphs intended by them. For example, it might be helpful to understand what Abraham intended by attaching these specific glyphs to his narrative. But that also is not the end of the journey. Happy traveling!
